I am a forklift truck operator (logistician, material handler); what are the risks?


I am a forklift truck driver, logistician, order preparer.

I drive automotive trolleys of various models, manual or electric pallet trucks.

I unload, transport, shelve, load all sorts of goods across short distances.

I perform my profession in warehouses, often unheated or sometimes outside or in cold chambers.

I have to perform manual goods handling, prepare orders, etc.



Risks

Accidents and other risks associated with the use of equipment and with traffic

Driving trolleys may give rise to
collisions with other trolleys, with pedestrians or obstacles,
- falls when getting onto or coming off the trolley
- falling loads,
- etc
When loading/unloading on platform edges, there are risks.
Falling trolley, falling person, collapse of lorry struts and/or unexpected truck departure, crushing, collisions, etc.

I follow the safety rules and procedures, I have the appropriate safe driving qualification and hold a driving licence, etc.

I wear high-visibility equipment, protective shoes.
Signage plan.

Cold, heat, inclement weather, drafts of air
Variable according to where I perform my activity.
I use warm clothing (bodywarmers, gloves, pullovers, hoods, etc.), rain wear, etc.

Cuts, strains, MSD etc.
Risks associated with handling and variable according to the type and weight of the handled products.
Sometimes caused by boxes or strapping.
Posture training.
Use of protective gloves.
