SINGER SAFETY® launches its first ESD protective footwear




In order to complete the range of foot protection SINGER SAFETY® is pleased to launch in September 2020 its first ESD shoes (*) called INDRA.
It is a light and comfortable basketball-type product with an upper made of leather and mesh for excellent foot ventilation. S1-P SRC classified.
 
According to the latest version 2018 of standard EN IEC 61340-4-3 the three classes of footwear that existed in the old version depending on humidity and temperature conditions have been deleted.
 
There are now only so-called dissipative shoes = electrical resistance <1.0 Ω x 108.

Why an ESD shoe?
In certain industrial activities, and in particular in electronics, it is important to be able to limit electrostatic discharges in order to protect devices sensitive to ESD.
This requirement can also be important to limit the risks of ignition and / or explosion due to electrostatic charges.
 
This characteristic, however, should not be confused with the insulating footwear that, for example, electricians may need to prevent the passage of electricity through the human body and to protect against electric arc.
 
The electrostatic behavior of shoes will generally depend on environmental conditions but also on the condition of the equipment, its cleanliness etc.
It will therefore be appropriate for the user to carry out tests to ensure that the product is still capable of providing the desired protection.
 
This equipment should be used in an overall ESD control plan.
