I am a joiner; what are the risks?

I usually work timber but also other materials such as aluminium, P.V.C.

I produce all sorts of timber elements, doors, windows, etc., which I fit on private or business premises, in offices, workshops, etc.

I may have to repair or restore old pieces of  timber originating from churches, castles, etc.

During my activity I may have to saw out timber, cut, polish, screw, assemble, glue, etc.

I use a variety of machines as well as numerous tools that assist me in my work.

Risks

Flying dust particles, shavings
I use (wrap-around) goggles, protective visors.

Noise from machines
I use hear-muffs or ear plugs against the noise

Respiratory (dusts)
I use filtering half-masks against fine dusts.

Cuts, perforations etc. by machines, by timber
I use gloves to protect against cuts, grazes, etc.

Chemicals such as glue, silicone, wood treatment products, etc.
I use watertight protective gloves, gas masks, etc.
Biological risks. Risk of infection. Tetanus in the event of wounds, grazes, pricks.
I use protective gloves

Cold
When working outside or on unheated premises, I protect myself with the appropriate clothing:
bodywarmer, hood, gloves
