I am a mason: what are the risks?

I am a qualified "structural works" professional.

I operate on the supporting elements of a construction:
- the foundations,
- the facade,
- the walls,
- the floors,
- the partitioning walls.

I work concrete, cement, breeze blocks, brick, stone, but also resins and new materials.

During my activities, the risks I run are particularly numerous:

- Respiratory: dusts, chemicals, glues, etc.
I use breathing masks, gloves against chemicals, wrap-around goggles, etc.

- Grazes, cuts: handling cement, concrete, timber, etc.
I use gloves to protect against cuts, grazes, hazardous products, etc.

- Works at elevation and risks of falling
I use protective equipment against falls from a height (harness, safety straps, fall-prevention device)

- Inclement weather when working outside: rain, wind, cold, etc.
I wear warm clothing (bodywarmer, pullover, socks etc.) and rain wear.
In the summer I protect myself against the sun and UV rays (long-sleeve polos, sunglasses, etc.).

- Noise on building sites, from machines, tools
I equip myself with personal noise protection: ear-muffs, ear plugs, etc.

- Risk of falling objects
I wear a hard hat, a crash helmet, etc.

- Risk associated with movements
I wear waterproof shoes with anti-perforation sole, safety tip and anti-slip sole

- Posture and musculoskeletal disorders
  Prevention; posture training

- etc

Be aware that no PPE, even when compliant with one or more standards, offers an absolute guarantee of safety and protection.

In all cases, before performing any operation that could jeopardise your health or safety, it is indispensable that you perform a risk appraisal, that you envisage all possible preventive solutions, that you draw up an emergency plan if necessary, have the required qualifications and are familiar with the safety guidelines.

For safety and hygiene reasons, PPE is always for invidivual use.
