I am a landscaper: what are the risks?

I maintain the green spaces of companies, public places, private individuals.
I mow lawns, I plant and trim hedges, I plant trees, flowers, I weed, I cut down trees, etc.

I use machines and various tools: mowers, lawn edge trimmers, chain-saws, shears, crusher, etc.

As part of my activity I may have to realise minor masonry works, put up fences, draw up water plans (plumbing works), create alleys, terraces, etc.

The risks

Cuts, grazes etc.
During handling operations, planting, trimming, repairing machines etc.
I may incur cuts, be pricked

Note: for risks associated with the chain saw, use equipment in compliance with the standards for chain saw use (EN381 standards series).

Chemical risk
When handling maintenance, weeding, machine repair products, etc.
I may have to handle chemicals, oil, petrol, etc.
I use protective gloves against chemicals, masks against gas, protective overalls against splashing, etc.

Inclement weather
I work outside and I am therefore subjected to the vagaries of the weather: cold, heat, rain, sun, etc.
I use suitable equipment: pullovers, bodywarmers, parkas, rain wear, gloves, sunglasses, caps, etc.

Flying objects during trimming, mowing operations, etc.
Visors and/or protective goggles, hard hat, crash helmets, etc.

Noise
Caused by the machines used (chain saws, mowers, etc.)
I use anti-noise headbands, ear plugs, etc.

Indicating my presence
Sometimes working close to roads, or on building sites, I preferably wear high-visibility clothing: bodywarmers, jackets, t-shirts, etc.
