IMPORTANTE CAUTIOUS:
The resistance of a glove to permeation is not sufficient ; in fact, when coming into contact with a chemical substance, a glove also suffers a change of its physical properties ( hardening or softening ). This is called DEGRADATION. The resistance of a glove to degradation is not related to its resistance to permeation. As a result, the use of a glove which has a high index degradation when in contact with a chemical product is not recommended, even if it has good resistance to permeation. At present, point 5.3 of the specification EN374 - 1 1994 stipulates that a test method for degradation is in the course of preparation. At present and according to our most recent information, there is no project of standardisation of this subject ( the most recent search took place on 27.06.00 ). Consequently, any existing test methods used by factories sometimes differ ( study of modifications of mechanical resistance, abrasion, perforation after soaking the material of the glove in a chemical product, calculation of its modifications of percentage weight gain, loss etc… ). Accordingly, we are unable to quote uniform results in this area and we are not setting out indices of degradation under this head. However, for more information concerning the resistance of our products to degradation, please consult us. The laboratory test results will assist in the selection of a suitable glove, it being understood that real conditions of use cannot be simulated exactly. Accordingly, we cannot do otherwise than advise you to carry out your own tests before use in every actual case. It therefore devolves on the end-user and not on the manufacturer to determine whether the gloves are suitable for a proposed use.
